Depends on how much of it are berries and stuff. When freeze dried they obviously lose all their water weight and maybe one remove some fibre content aswell, so something like 10 gram of berrymixture may equal quite a lot of berries and some of them aren't cheap at all in their natural state.

So it's kinda obvious one can't sell the end product at a lower price than the ingredients, so obviously such things will cost way more than just some whey protein and maltodextrine or such.

Regarding store bought stuff it may be even worse here, tomatos from the netherlands grown in green houses, picked unripe and green and shipped over. Hard as potatoes on delivery and then they are supposed to get red at some time but their nutritional value can probably not compete very much at all with a sun riped freshly picked one.

Same for things lying around for a week or three before I end up buying and eating it, not the best of environments for some vitamins.

One can get around the tomato issue by buying caned tomatoes since they are picked riped and then preserved instead.

But the best would obviously to grow things locally and accept really high prices for the fact that ripe fruits and vegetables get bad quite fast and someone have to pay for the stuff people don't buy.

Jeremy, I'm taking it in the morning about 20-30 minutes after my post-workout recovery drinks. I'm taking it for convenience and to ensure I'm getting some great nutrients throughout the day. Apparently a lot of store bought fruits and veggies are a little lacking in nutrients, so Shakeology is just some added insurance for me during my last month of P90X. I'll probably adopt other strategies when I'm not doing an intensive training regimen, but for now it's all out in the last month!

Smoothies sound good, too. I'll probably drink something like that in the future.
